Talk to us about designing and installing your new home-grown vegetable patch complete with easily accessed netted cover to keep birds and other unwanted visitors out, leaving all the fresh produce for whom it is intended - YOU.

Whilst drought conditions pose challenges for property owners and their gardens, there is every reason to remain positive. With the right design advice, our gardens can still be very attractive and pleasant areas in which to spend time, entertain and relax.

We have access to a huge variety of drought tolerant plants which can provide some of the most striking features in any garden.  These plants have endured climate fluctuations and still manage to survive in some of the most hostile environments. We have the ability to use structure and form in our designs and to work with the conditions that are naturally occurring within our landscapes.
Landscaping which is specifically and intelligently designed for your home will be one of the most important investments you can make to assist with your property’s ongoing water costs.

Water Harvesting and Efficient Moisture Use and Retention

A simple and essential device in these low rainfall times which will go a long way towards aiding your garden is a water tank. This can be either above of below ground and is available in a variety of materials and colours.  Both State and Local governments can assist with rebates to help with this cost.

www.sgaonline.org.au is a wonderful website for good information and regular updates on all areas of sustainability in the garden.

www.savewater.com.au is also an informative website, and has loads of ideas on how to save water and has a data base of suitable plant species for your garden, including low maintenance and drought resistant species to add to the appeal of any garden landscape.

An important water harvesting strategy is to use your landscape’s natural contours.   These can catch, hold and direct water within your site. Mulching your garden beds is an essential way of maximising moisture use within your landscape.  Mark Perriman Landscapes aims always to maintain natural water flows over the area when considering your garden’s design to prevent erosion and enhance your new garden’s visual appeal.
